Joan works as an Independent Educational Consultant focusing on on-line and blended learning. She began teaching with Athabasca University, then a rural K to 12 school followed by serving as Principal of the PWSD on-line school, PAVE. She provides support to on-line educators and has spoken provincially, nationally and internationally on topics relating to on-line education, Moodle and assessment.Joan created a mini book intended for new instructors using the Moodle Quiz Module, published by Packt Publishing, January 2013.Joan runs a tree farm in Northwestern Alberta with her two children. Travel, painting, skiing, and gardening occupy her free time.
